On Tuesday the 6th of August it is time for this years Sexsibility festival! This year I feel honoured as I am going there as one of the workshop facilitators.
It has been one of my dreams to share my gifts at the Sexsibility festival, so I am very keen and very nervous at the moment. But I am going there with two amazing workshop assistants so I am hopeful that we as a team will do an amazing job!
One of my focus areas during the spring/summer has been to practice facilitating the workshops I will hold at the festival. I now feel this was a good decision as each time I have learned something new, and I have been able to tweak them bit by bit. It also allowed me and my lovely assistants to come together as a team. A sneak peak of the workshops is below.
Unseen Pleasure
The idea behind the workshop is to explore our desires for safety and pleasure beyond the common and stereotypical wishes that can occur when we know who the touch will be coming from.
In this workshop I start with an exercise that help participants visualise how boundaries and consent work using two volunteers and rope circles. I then move on to invite participants to explore what they need from another person to feel more safe. In the third exercise participants have the opportunity to practice saying pause during an active exercise.
In the main part of the workshop participants are invited to explore their desires by asking for touch from people they do not know. In short, they are invited to put on a blindfold and then are approached by people that they do not know. The person with the blindfold can then ask for touch – without knowing whom the touch is coming from.
Art of Presence
The idea is to invite participants to connect more to their body, and how they can use this connection to give and receive slow, sensual, and present touch.
In this workshop I begin with exercises that explore how we can become more connected with our bodies through breath, movement, sound, and touch.
In the main part of the workshop participants are invited to explore these strategies while giving/receiving touch. This is a 30 minute massage including a guided beginning, tips throughout, and a slow and gentle ending.
